Mind Body Connection September 17, 2007

Posted by Manuel in Uncategorized.

This weekend I had the fortune to listen to Dr. Deepak Chopra on the Siruis Satellite Network.

It was truly a blessing to hear Dr. Chopra talk about how the mind and body are connected. Dr. Chopra is a great believer in meditation and gave an affirmation that I truly need to practice.

I will not give into the illusion of helplessness.

Dr. Chopra had more information than I can begin to scribe here. But its safe to say that I am truly in need of addressing this and practicing meditation. I need to get to Borders and do more research on Dr. Chopra but I will be listening on Saturdays.

I will leave you another tidbit from Dr. Chopra that I hope will encourage all of you:

Our cells are constantly eavesdropping on our thoughts and being changed by them. A bout of depression can wreak havoc with the immune system; falling in love can boost it. Despair and helplessness raise the risk of heart attacks and cancer, thereby shortening life. Joy and fulfillment keep us healthy and extend life. This means that the line between biology and psychology can\’t really be drawn with any certainty. A remembered stress, which is only a wisp of thought, releases the same flood of destructive hormones as the stress itself.
